The Chase Edwards Scholarship Fund and Permanent Endowment was established in May 2004. Many friends, family, co-workers and complete strangers helped us to achieve our goal of $15,000…that entitles one child in Livingston County to attend camp each year…for as long as the camp remains open. Blue Lake Fine Arts Camp was established in 1966. During the 2007 summer camp season, Blue Lake continued its successful trend of increased student enrollment with more than 5100 talented young people participating throughout their eight-week season…there were significant waiting lists for nearly every program at the camp. Despite the size and complexity of the organization, the camp has never lost sight of its original goals set forth in 1966. Our first Scholarship was given in 2005; Shelby Batlemente of Hartland, Michigan…a 12 year old Clarinet student. She received a full scholarship. She wrote; “I am writing to express my gratitude and happiness that you have made it possible for me to attend Blue Lake Arts Camp this past summer. I am deeply grateful that you picked me for the scholarship and I am looking forward to my time spent at camp. I am nearly 123 years old and I will attend the 8th grade this fall. I am an honor roll student and I was a student of the month last school year. I have participated in band for 2 years and I play the clarinet. I enjoy music very much and it is not hard because my dad is a musician and he plays the drums. My younger brother plays the drums and the electric guitar. I guess you can say we are a musical family. Except for my mom, she does not play any musical instruments. I live at home with my mom, dad and little brother. I have a dog and two cats also. This is mostly about me, and I would like to “thank you” again for the scholarship. I can not wait to attend camp this summer” Sincerely Grateful Clarinet Player.
